SGME Story/History

Securiguard Services Ltd.

The parent company Securiguard was established in 1974 when Stanley Kernaghan separated the Security Division of Kernaghan Adjusters off into a separate company. At the age of 21, Stanley’s son Darcy headed the new company as its original and only President. Darcy had learned the workings of the security industry assisting in his father’s companies, Kernaghan Adjusters and World Investigation Service, and brought energy, professionalism and lots of heart into the fledgling Securiguard. Under Darcy’s direction, Securiguard developed a reputation and expertise in handling the security needs related to labour disputes. Because of the unbiased way in which the services were provided, Securiguard gained favor with the legal community, where many subsequent contracts originated.

Through the growth of the early years, Securiguard gained such Clients as Nabob Foods, Canada Post and the Canadian Broadcasting Company. Through the increase of clients needs, Securiguard initial operation was expanded to include offices in Victoria and Nanaimo and now in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.


The company’s reputation for quality service delivery was well established and Securiguard is one of the premium security guard companies in British Columbia. This reputation has been emphasized a number of times with awards such as the Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA) Pinnacle Award for “Above and Beyond” and “Customer Service (Service/Supplier Category)”


Our Current Operation

Today, Securiguard Canada is still headed by Darcy Kernaghan as President & CEO. He remains dedicated to the security industry in British Columbia, and has been at the forefront in many security initiatives. He has worked with the Provincial Government in developing industry standards for quality service in the guard industry, served on University Boards directing quality in related educational programs, and continues to be a key supporter of professional development in British Columbia’s security industry.

This has been graphically demonstrated in Darcy’s continued commitment serving in key regional positions in ASIS and encouraging Securiguard and Securiguard Middle East executives and senior managers to achieve Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation.

Our ability to adapt to new challenges over 30 years of security experience is highlighted by our ability to be the first in many aspects of security. We are proudest of our Vancouver International Airport Authority and Vancouver Port Authority long-standing contracts where we worked with local police and RCMP during the privatization of those two large economic engines of the province.

Securiguard Middle East United Arab Emirates

Securiguard Middle East, Established in Abu Dhabi UAE 2001. Securiguard Middle East is locally owned and partnered with Securiguard Services Ltd. of Canada. This partnership builds on over 30 years of security experience in. In fact, Securiguard Services Ltd. was the first Security Company in North America to obtain ISO certification, which it maintains today both in Canada and the UAE.

Based upon outstanding “client service”, Securiguard Middle East now has an extensive list of satisfied customers within UAE. Our client focused Management Team is led by our Managing Director, Nabeel A Al Afifi. Mr. Nabeel brings 26 years of experience from the senior management level of the UAE Police and a diverse security background. He is dedicated to customer service and committed to a modern approach to personnel management.

As a potential client, Securiguard Middle East is committed to provide you with a quality service of fully trained and Police licensed Security Guards to meet your current or future needs. We also specialize and have the capacity to provide you security services for emergent or priority short-notice requirements.

Securiguard Middle East guarantees our service and does quality assurance testing on a regular basis to ensure that the service being provided exceeds your needs. In consultation with the client we will develop written site specific Post Orders in order to ensure that the guard who is assigned to the site is fully aware of his duties and responsibilities. The guard is required to read and understand these Post Orders and is tested on them constantly by our Supervisors, Operations Manager and our Managing Director. We are confident that we can provide the client Security services that are “second to none”, with our entire Management Team prepared to respond anytime day or night.

We are flexible pertaining to our recommended deployment of strength to adequately guard the premises. If you as the client or Securiguard Middle East feel any deployment is in excess or insufficient, we want to ensure we address these issues straight away.

Securiguard Middle East has a central philosophy of providing strong management and infrastructure support to our field personnel so that we can meet the diverse and professional expectations of the client. Range of Services

Securiguard Middle East is a full service security company, also offering the “state of the art” technology solutions from our Systems Division, as well as our full service Information Technology Division.
